Top 6 Benefits of feeding your Dog Raw Vegan Foods
4:48 am - July 5, 2011 | Posted By Linda in Living Foods for DogzYour canine deserves to eat as well as you because it is one of your loved ones. Before you reach into that bag of dog pallets, ask yourself: would you feed your loved one something you yourself would not eat?
1) Replacing your dog’s conventional canned food/dog pallets is one of the most effective ways to prolong your dog’s life. Much as we wish that our dogs could live as long as we do, they have a much shorter life span than human beings. But what we can do is to lengthen their canine years, as well as add quality to them.
Take a look at all packaged dog foods, canned foods, treats, supplements & even vitamins. Almost always there is some dubious chemical element inside – chloride, sulphate, oxide etc. If I can’t put these in my mouth, I don’t want them in my doggy’s mouth too.

Perhaps I may not have enough Scientific Research to back this up, however from my own experiences hearing about friend’s dogs, those who ate vegan diets seemed to enjoy a longer life span. While I am aware that this article could potentially invite reactions from raw meat diet supporters, please consider my intention of making use of my skills to contribute to better owner-dog relationships, before you shoot me.
2) Odorless Dog
Isn’t it cool that your dog now smells much more pleasant than before? Dogs are like humans in many ways, feed them nutrient dense fresh foods, they smell fresh; feed them chemical/preservative laden foods, they smell foul. The poop of a dog on raw vegan foods, needless to say, smell much less evil than that of a dog fed with conventional dog food.
3) More obedience, less restlessness
This is NOT imagination. Once I induced my retriever puppy onto raw vegan foods, he started to have a lot more concentration power. Although still energetic & playful, when we give commands and talk to him seriously, he could obey with less resistance. Dog training became much easier!
With less chemicals & addictives in the body, of course attention span is more consistent & less disruptive. Throw in professional training, your canine could become more well behaved than you could ever imagine!
4) Truly beautiful doggy features
Would you believe that your dog would start growing beautiful coats & bright eyes once you feed him top quality raw vegan foods? Put him on Organic Oats, Avocados, Sprouted Seeds & a little Durians for a while and observe his appearance.
Many friends, neighbors & Yoga students commented that my baby retriever Yogi looks so cute & handsome; I tell them that the secret is superior dietary planning with raw vegan foods.
It is even easier to see the results in a puppy because they are so young, they don’t have so much junk or toxins in their body to begin with, so its easier to build them up with nutrient dense foods.
5) Drinks less water, yet well hydrated
Dogs hang their tongues out most of the time because that is how they carry out respiration. They also lose a substantial amount of moisture through their tongues. When you feed your dog pallets or canned foods, they need to drink more water to flush out the toxins and also move the food (which contain less water content than plant foods).
With plant foods, water content is higher and what’s more is that the water content is of superior quality.
After eating mainly raw vegan foods for 2 weeks, Yogi’s water intake reduced substantially. However, most of the time his poop is still moist and smooth, urine is clear & odorless.
6) Friendliness, More Love & Less Aggression
Along with a natural wholesome plant based diet, comes a special consciousness, yes even for a dog! Your dog not only starts to lose aggressive behavior, but starts to demonstrate more love & affinity with you and your family!
Just like how conventional chemical laden foods cause frustration & aggression in humans, they cause the same in animals too. Take your dog off chemicals & addictives; they become truly a vessel of Love from Mother Nature.
Give them top quality nutrition from Earth; they will appreciate you for life and even beyond.
My dog trainer Sunny Chong (owner of the biggest Professional Dog Training School in Singapore) told me a story about an old dog that is very sick. He was lying breathlessly on the vet’s table, ready to go any moment. The moment the owner walked into the room, the dog stood up straight – as if in a bid to greet his owner for the last time. Perhaps he used up all his remaining strength in that effort to stand up; because straight after that, he collapsed and died.
There are people who come and say – You are crazy for feeding your dog such expensive foods! It is high-maintenance, unsustainable and so on.
Your dog is the only being on Earth that will love you more than you ever love yourself. Just for this, your dog deserves the best foods.
If I can afford to eat Organic Berries, Avocados & Organic Baby Oats today, so will my dog. What about you; would you do the same?

So what do you feed your dog? I know their bodies require an acidic diet vs our need for an alkaline diet so that must be taken into consideration. Ani Phyo had recommended a vegan mix that she used for Kanga but now Kanga is on a more appropriate mix that includes meat. Personally although I am raw vegan I make sure my dogs have a cup of raw leafy greens plus sunflower and pumpkin seeds all go through my Green Star juicer with the attachment for crushing vs juicing. But otherwise they do get a little meat or fish daily in order to give their bodies the nutrition they need long term (I lightly cook vs giving raw). They eat fruits and veggies for snacks plus love nuts (not macademia for dogs). I have seen many fad diets come and go (I am in my 60’s) and of course people see great improvement whether they feed raw or vegan when they first start out but long term we must consider their actual needs. Often people quote that Brambles was the longest living dog and he was vegan, however I have been told that he also roamed outside catching wild life here and there which was probably what sustained him

Yogi eats about everything I do, except for cacao of course! Dogs are allergic to choc, so we stay off that.
On a daily basis, Yogi loves organic oats, flax breads/crackers, jackfruit muah chee, goji berries porridge, bananas, avocados (his fav!), & all kinds of fruits! We also make dehydrated doggie biscuits (with nut pulp & fruits, olive oil) for training sessions; even my fren’s 5 yr old Retriever loved the dog treats!!
