Busting Raw Myths - Part 1
3:53 am - July 20, 2010 | Posted By Linda in Busting Conventional Myths“Are you eating ALL raw foods only?”
“How many percent are you eating raw?”
“So you have no social Life? How do you go out with friends and family?!”
While I recounted the number of times I’d been asked these questions, I realized that most conventional people have a somewhat twisted perception of raw foods.
Some people will say “Oh, I know its good, I feel the wonderful effects! But its too troublesome, too strict, too unfriendly, too expensive…” and so on. Humans have this tendency to stop ourselves even before we start on any new project, just by limiting our beliefs.
We think that if we change, we have to eat 100% raw. Its like “All or Nothing!”.
Raw foods have become, to a certain extent, something like a religion.
Who cares whether I’m eating 100%, 99% or 10% raw or not at all! It does not matter. If I had been eating fast-food for a week, and today I eat a cooked meal of say steamed vege/fish, it is still a vast improvement in terms of nutrient density!
(Disclaimer - I believe that my best nutrition can be supplied by the plant kingdom; the above example is given because every human has a different body, comes from different backgrounds with different beliefs. I do NOT encourage a meat-based diet as of now; however there is a need for transition in every diet change.)
And have you observed that humans have a habit of limiting our beliefs - can you see how we always think of a hundred reasons NOT to do something?
That is the norm - Resistance to Change, our natural human tendency.
And so, even though our wisdom tells us that something could benefit us, we stop ourselves from reaching out for it.
What if - we start to think from the opposite end: “How can I make it work?”
In fact, if we only start thinking like this, we live life with MAGIC. We become magicians with the power to manifest the things we want into our lives. We have the power; we simply refuse to acknowledge it.
You see, the key here is not to hope to ascend Mount Everest in one day. Just like how we climb a mountain step by step, the key is in progress. You get the idea?
Every step higher up the slope is an improvement, a progress, compared to the previous situation, as we proceed nearer and nearer to our goal ie. the summit.
In the area of changing dietary habits, it is the same! Every little thing we do today, which puts us nearer to our goal of achieving better health, IS an improvement.
“Are you eating ALL raw foods only? How many percent raw?”
I never give answers to these questions, because there are no accurate answers in reality. To me, Raw and Living foods is a representative term for foods with the highest nutrient, enzyme density which gives me the most benefit on all body, emotional and spiritual levels.
And so it happens that 99% of foods which fits my requirements, happen to be raw foods. I would say that I choose to eat the freshest, highest quality possible foods whenever available.
“So you have no social Life? How do you go out with friends and family?! You’re missing out on all the good foods!”
Gosh! You have no idea how much fun I’m having in my Life right now. Every meal tastes heavenly, feeds my body and nourishes my soul like nothing before. I’m so opened to creative frequencies, enjoying songs and music like never before, appreciating the deepest beauty of life.
My taste buds have opened up so much that I can taste the combination of flavors in natural living foods. What a blessing!
No social life? No fun? You’ve gotta be kidding, I say!
Living foods opened me up to new ways of being, living, breathing! I have so much thrill from making smoothies and raw recipes for loved ones, friends, neighbors, and even the toilet plumber! Everybody loved it.
What about going out to social functions?
The number one reason why I’d feel “discriminated” against is when I don’t feel comfortable in my own skin. I’m the one who determine whether I’m gonna have fun in a group or not. When we hang out and interact with loved ones or friends, it is not only about what we eat. It is so much more! Our missions, our values, jokes and laughter, music or dance, endless!
Living is in essence, accepting differences while still loving one another.
Let the Magic in, now
