The Yoga-Living Foods Transition
3:49 pm - June 24, 2010 | Posted By Linda in YogaAncient Yoga practices have been hailed and used by many people of all ages to achieve health, wellness as well as spiritual awakenings ranging from feelings of balance to self-enlightenment.
Indeed, practicing Yoga with all other lifestyle factors remaining constant, already have a wide variety of benefits. These benefits span from physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
So far, there are limited statistics/research are available to establish the co-relation between Living Foods and Yoga. Yes, there are individual modules of Food & Nutrition in all Yoga Studies where
Yoga Teacher study about the most suitable diets for Yoga practices enhancement.
Yogic Diets are in fact, very similar to Living Foods - minimal processing, wholesome vegan foods, no deep frying, microwaving and other unnatural cooking processes.

However, perhaps due to the fragmentation of information over centuries, the writings on Living Foods Science is sparse and incomplete.
Based on my personal experience of Yoga practice over more than 6 years, while transitioning onto a Living Foods Diet for the past 4 years, I’ve found a precious and intricate link between these 2 ancient long-forgotten institutions of knowledge.
Living Foods Science, is basically Logic and Common Sense to me. Eat foods in their least adulterated forms, with the maximum nutrients which are easiest to assimilated by the body.
The more complex the heating, cooking or processing we do, the more benefits we remove from the foods.
But why is that not everyone experience the benefits rapidly enough, or even in some cases, suffer from detox, discomfort and even depression symptoms?
This is because Man has not reached our present stage overnight. We have, through years of abuse and neglect, dug our graves and brought ourselves near to ruins.
It is the same happening with Mother Earth - now expressing the pent up energies which we have been driving in by unconscious decisions.
Cutting trees excessively, polluting rivers, over-extracting raw materials etc.
To save the Earth, and our bodies, we need more than a night. We need to transition and pace ourselves.
Detox symptoms and feelings of discomfort are bound to hit whenever we make a healthy switch in lifestyle, if the body is already used to years of abuse and neglect. When these hit, it becomes difficult to keep up the positive adjustments, because we are still living in contemporary world, the dynamics at work here are beyond literature can capture.
We are not only referring to physical discomfort, but also temptations, social factors, media influences, economical and political situations etc. Yes, all these factors contribute to what we are conditioned to believe, what is available to us as tools for health, and ultimately our choices which determine our health as well as destiny.
Now that we’ve touched on the macro-view of the current situation, let’s zoom in onto why Yoga can help us to transition more easily and painlessly onto the new dimensions - of Health, Vitality, Longevity and Radiance!
1) Yoga seeks to awaken oneself to our body - connecting Mind and Body together.
The number one missing link is the connection between Body, Mind and Spirit. The bottom-line of health, must begin with Body and Mind connection. When we are cut off from the body, we are unaware of what we are feeling, we don’t know what is wrong, even when body is giving clear signals. We make unsupportive choices.
When Mind and Body is connected, the first link of health is established - Body Awareness.
2) Connection between Body, Mind and Spirit
Here we move one more step towards aligning Spirit with Body and Mind. When the Body is awakened, the Mind is Aware, the Spirit can Feel. At this level, emotional and spiritual benefits can be felt - further driving the healing process.
A happy person produces more endorphins and has a stronger immune system compared to somebody who is grouchy and negative.
3) Yoga seeks to Accept.
Is it ok for Smokers, Drinkers, Drug Abusers to practice Yoga?
Absolutely! Yoga is for everyone. In fact, everyone is a Yogi, because inherently we already know what it is like to practice. It is simply Living, and Breathing, Being.
To reverse any health or emotional disorder, first we need to accept that it is there. Denial cannot solve the problem. Only when we become aware of the problem, we acknowledge its presence, then we can proceed to shine Light on it, and dissolve it.
Its the same with health problems. Apply to physical sense, when we feel a certain body part unwell, we first must feel it isn’t it? Only then we know we can apply certain Yoga Asanas to cleanse that body part and add in certain foods to enhance the strength.
4) Yoga enhances the Body’s natural healing abilities
By targeting at the roots, rather than symptoms of ailments, Yoga helps the body awaken the Natural Healer inherent in every practionar.
You, me, and everybody else on Earth, has a Inner Healing Guru in us. This Inner Healer is greater than any Doctor, surgery, therapy, pills, drugs or medications.
The only sustainable medication or healing remedies, can be truly effective only if they enhance, and strengthen the body’s natural biochemical healing cycles, without subtracting anything from the balance. Everything else are just measures to “shut” the symptoms.
In Yoga Asanas, different organs are stretched, massaged and oxygenated, toxins released, blood circulation improves and transport nutrients more effectively. Pranayam (Breathing) exercises drive oxygen for maximum rejuvenation and healing.
5) Yoga Cleanses the Body while Strengthening it
While restoring the Body’s natural balance, Yoga also intensively cleanses the Body of toxins. These toxins have accumulated from a wide variety of pollution - from food, environment, air, sound, water to stress and many other mental/emotional toxins.
When Yoga is incorporated on top of a Conscious Living Foods Diet, transition process is enhanced and made smoother. The journey is made easier with the gradient of change softening.
In other words, the Body is allowed to make adjustments within a comfortable range. While cleaning rapidly, we are giving it strength and nutrition to carry out the challenging tasks of healing, re-configuring into a new balance of wellness, while coping with normal daily activities.
Challenging, but not impossible. After all, this magnificent Body of us is gifted to us for this very sole purpose - to support us in our journey as we bring our gifts and talents to fellow Mankind. Healing, rejuvenation and Self-Regeneration, are some of the major inherent qualities in us.
And this is also why Life is a Blessing indeed - we have EVERYTHING we need to be the best we can be. The supply is already there, just open our awareness to the means, accept them, and start using them with grace
Cheers To Light & Love
