Reduction in Food Consumption - Good or Bad?!

Interestingly, the types and quantities of living foods I eat everyday has somewhat evolved over the past few years. There is one almost confirmed observation made from people on Green Smoothies, including myself - and that is our overall consumption of food reduces on days on which we are not physically active.

Because I lead a mostly active lifestyle, I actually experienced a substantial increase in food intake. Living foods as we all know, are dense in nutrients, but low on calories and huge in bulk! So in order to meet daily caloric requirements, I take in more food volume now.

But this only occurs on my active days. Meaning that my body requests for more food when I use more energy - for eg. when I run classes, give lectures or had been out whole day, I eat much more.

On days when I’m at my computer writing, or when I take the day off to read, I noticed that Green Smoothies and some fruits can keep me very satisfied.

The volume of foods can vary substantially from active to non-active days.

And this seems to happen to many people going on Green Smoothies too!

Many participants and Yoga students feedback to me that after adding just one Green Smoothie a day, they observed a drop in food consumption. Could it be due to a lack in stomach space, they asked.

My answer to that is - Maybe, or partly.

Although I think it is more likely that they don’t want so much food because the person is being well-nourished on a cellular basis!

You see, a Green Smoothie is a complete food. It has vitamins for cell renewal, minerals for organs strength, simple sugars for energy, fiber for elimination and cleansing, chlorophyll for oxygen boost, water for hydration. It is a Power Food with everything intact which we need for survival.

Thus when we start drinking Green Smoothies, we program the body with new food language. Now the body knows that there are superior ingredients as compared to that fried noodles we used to eat. And the body knows it can get all it needs from this Green Smoothie.

In the first place, why had we been eating more? Its because conventional processed foods are so low in nutrients, that we have to eat and eat and still want more. Even if we were to eat slightly “healthier” conventional cooked foods, we need to eat more in order to fulfill the nutrient requirements.

So, it is perfectly normal that we want lesser food; in fact most of us are amazed at how much better the body functions, look, and feel now, even though food intake is reduced!

Now tell me if that’s a cause for jumping in joy?

Of course I think it is! :)
