What Do You Put On Your Skin?
12:37 am - January 21, 2010 | Posted By Linda in Linda's Daily Stuff, Skin HealthSkincare has greatly evolved to a new, never-before revolutionary stage. Ranging from bottles of “Miracle Creams” to extreme surgery methods, one never have to bother about skin problems as long as we are willing to spend.
Are they as good for us as they are made out to be?
We as consumers, unfortunately, do not possess full knowledge of what goes into what we buy anymore. We don’t even have full knowledge of what we put into our mouths, let alone what goes on top of the skin!
I used to spend huge bills on skin care alone. Months after months, I blew at least half my pay check on anti-aging creams, acne lotions, lifting/firming treatments, salon facials, and even collagen supplements! The irony is that I can’t use the same brand for more than 3 months because the skin always develop some form of resistance to the ingredients used in that particular brand.
And so the pursue continued for a number of years - I switched to using more and more costly brands, went for more salon treatments; but one thing remained - my skin continued to age and deteriorate in quality.
When I started paying more attention to my diet, I also simultaneously started questioning what goes into my skincare. Those bottles and tubes of expensive creams, lotions and serums…where do they come from, and what goes inside?
As I started to question, I come to realisations - which most conventional modern women may not think of right away:
1) Where did these come out from, chemical labs?
2) What is inside, are they edible?
3) Some even say for external applications only, meaning I’ll die if I eat them?
4) They smell good, but do I feel like putting them in my mouth eating them?
5) They last and last for years, what preservatives are put inside?
6) Most contain perfume, is perfume edible?
7) I don’t feel good when I eat foods laden with preservatives, will my skin feel good too?
I tried to taste some, but I hated the taste and felt sick afterwards. What can it do to my skin?!
etc… the list is endless, you get the idea?
Over the past 5 years on my pursue onto wholesome living, holistic wellness, my skin has not only become younger. It has turned radiant, wrinkle-free, firm and blemish free - and I continue to be amazed at how my skin continued to grow younger and younger.
Of course, not to mention, my lifestyle changes over the years included not only living foods, but the intelligent use of living foods, exclusion of >90% of conventionally available foods and skin care, Yoga and exercise, as well as making my own natural skin care from edible products!
And each step I progressed, I am propelled to find out more because I am so motivated by the progress I get. My high school buddies, and close friends continue to be amazed time after time at how I managed to maintain myself after so many years.
For some believers, I share my knowledge. For most people who are not ready yet, they do not know how simple it can get!
So, are you putting the right stuff on your skin too?
Cheers to Your Radiance, Youth and Beauty (which by the way, is your birth-right!)
