The Power of Pranayams - “Love Is In The Air”

8:41 am - March 16, 2010 | Posted By Linda in Yoga | No Comments

The person who wrote the song “Love’s In The Air” must have known some of the secrets behind the power of our breath. Besides being simply a romantic love song, I think this is one song who is discreetly exalting the wondrous cosmic energy underlying our breath.

Human beings can survive weeks without food, days without water, but not more than a few min without breathing. Is there some Universal secret behind this often taken-for-granted fact?

If there is, the ancient Vedic masters definitely knew about it. Apparently, they have been using Pranayam Yoga for centuries to heal the body, rejuvenate the soul, remain youthful regardless of biological age, and even to attain enlightenment.

“The yoga detox and rejuvenation basic workshop was a great workout! I sweat a lot and at first felt a little giddy when I did the first few rounds of the Kapalbathi breathing. However, as the sequences progressed, I was able to adjust accordingly and the rest of the workshop was a very deep and strong workout for me.

I continued to practice the 10-min kapalbathi breathing exercise sequences that Linda provided for daily practice. Whilst I could only manage 20×5 instead of 30×5 sets for now for each posture and after only 5 days of practice (in addition to my usual daily exercise routine), I found to my delight that my hatha yoga practice actually improved. I could flow with the sequences with more strength, endurance and flexibility. It was a very graceful and energetic flow and it was one of the best hatha yoga practice I have had in the 3 years that I’d been doing yoga. I enjoyed the session thoroughly!

In general, my energy has also improved - I could make it through the day without feeling as tired as I used to be.

I’ve signed up for the advance workshop and look forward to even greater transformation and rejuvenation.

Thank you, Linda, for sharing your goodies with us! :)”

Yew Siang (1 week after the workshop)

“During the workshop, I sweat a lot, a lot, a lot! And it felt great. I thought that the after effects of Yoga Detox Basic was great - this was even better!! Since that Sat, I had been practising the routine covering cleansing and detox, anti-aging twist and Sun salutation for 1/2 an hour every a.m. After the basic class, I was doing about 20 kapalabathi breaths per in breath. After the Advance class, I now do 50 x 2 sets of such breaths per asana. It makes for lightness of being after the exercises - very good for meditation thereafter.

For adults who has gone thro’ much in life, detox and healing is a definite must that we may be ready to accept what the Universe has to offer us - we must be empty that we may be filled :)

Thanks for teaching such a very useful thing to help people to create balance in life.

Namaste!”
