Top 7 Foods to Eat for Detoxification

10:22 am - September 15, 2011 | Posted By Linda in Detox | No Comments

Detoxification is a big word nowadays. If we want to lose weight we have to detox, if we want to heal disease we must detox, when we improve our diets for the better we go through detox periods.

Besides resting plenty, drinking sufficient clean water & maintaining a positive outlook, there are some foods we can incorporate during detox to enhance the process. So that the junk move out of our body, fast, and for good!

1) Flax Seeds

These guys are wonderful sources of Omega 3, and what’s more, they scrub our intestines like crazy! Flax seeds absorb water in the gut and then literally glide through, pulling all the impurities, crusted matter & accumulated waste with it. The bulk is excreted in our bowels.

So how to eat them? The easiest way is to buy the grounded version, add a tablespoon into our smoothies. Consuming flax oil will be more contributing to our Omega requirements and less detoxifying than eating the seeds because the oil is devoid of fiber.

2) Chia Seeds

Another fiber powerhouse, Chia Seeds has a wonderful way of moving our bowels smoothly. After soaking, Chia Seeds expand to become gel-like, and may raw chefs love to use them in custardy recipes. Chia seeds are tasteless & do not interfere with the taste & flavor of other foods when mixed.

The most convenient way to consume is to soak 1 tablespoon of Chia Seeds in a saucer of water for 3-4 hours. Then blend the Chia gel into smoothies, or you can chop some fresh fruit & eat together.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your own digestion?

The number one indicator of digestion is a person’s energy level. Are you generally energetic, on your feet mostly, think and work fast?

Or are you always feeling sleepy even when you’ve slept more than 8 hours, lethargic after a meal, sluggish after tea break, dragging your feet to take even a stroll…

You want to gauge how good is your digestion? Examine your energy levels.

Why is Detoxification more Important than Ever?

12:31 am - January 17, 2011 | Posted By Linda in Detox | No Comments

In Singapore, we do not have sub-way trains (we are too small!); instead we have something like a mini-subway called MRT – Mass Rapid Transit. These are trains that carry passengers to all North South East West corners of Singapore and are a commonly used mode of transport here.

During the peak hours, we usually observe an overcrowding instance where passengers wanting to alight will get blocked or pushed back into the train by new passengers who are eager to board the train. The moment the doors open, the new passengers, eager to rush in, will crowd into the train. The resulting situation is one of frustration from the “sardine-packed” passengers who are in the middle of the train because they are squeezed even flatter, the passengers who want to alight but unable to do so, and of course those whose toes are stepped on or backs and butts poked or shoved.

Each time I recall this scenario, I can’t help but think that it is exactly the same with our own body; the outer world is indeed a reflection of our inner world ☺

Before our body can detoxify properly, we continue to assault it with junk and rubbish, hoping in vain that the new supplement, drug or synthetic vitamin we pop into our mouths can do some miracle.

Raw Foods Transition - Is this Necessary?

2:38 am - November 6, 2010 | Posted By Linda in Detox | No Comments

Although Raw Foods have proven to give significant healing and energizing benefits, we must still remember that major dietary changes are not accomplished overnight.

Of course, there are some whom are able to switch to raw foods cold turkey; but remember no 2 humans are the same. We are each unique and our body systems each work differently. Most of us are better off with a gradual transition rather than overnight major changes.

In fact, most of the experienced raw food experts (those whom have been on this lifestyle for more than 10-20 years) encourage us onto a gradual dietary transition rather than sudden overnight changes.

Why is there a need for gradual transition? Let’s just explore 3 general logics today.
