Let’s first examine why eating raw foods do not produce warmth in the body. We all know that lean meat takes more energy to digest, and can even increase metabolic rates. When we eat a piece of meat, it takes more energy from the body to digest it. While your body works, this produces a thermal effect, and we feel warm. Raw foods on the other hand, are easily digestible, takes less energy and thus less heat is generated.

I had always preferred the name Live Foods rather than Raw Foods. The name Live Foods is self-explanatory: We are alive, so eat live foods!

Instead of a lengthy explanation of the molecular structure of a sprout, I prefer a more straightforward approach using live foods. Put simply, live foods are “living” foods which contain life forms and are capable of growing. Before you eat something, ask yourself, will this food grow if you plant the seeds in the ground and water it? If yes, that food is a living food. A fresh apple will grow; but a bag of apple chips, apple pie/strudel will not!

A most commonly experienced symptom may be stomach upsets in the first 2 - 3 days; I rarely knew anyone or read anything about more than 4 days. And most of them, provided they stick to a cleaner, less processed diet, the stomach upsets are usually replaced by a fresh sensation of cleanliness, and a peaceful, pleasant ‘buzz’.

It is so heartening to see fellow mankind waking up gradually to the misrepresentations of society. 2 years ago, when I tell my friends that milk & dairy may not be so good for us, they tell me to “relax, everyone is consuming it so it should be fine!”. Now, when I tell them the same thing again, they go “really? I read that somewhere too, maybe there’s some truth…”
